The NDP Design Forum ran from the 9-11 May and was kindly hosted by Cranbrook School in the Old Coach House. It was attended by many passionate community advocates who took the opportunity to share their views and begin to identify the policy areas that are most important for the parish. Whether people were only able to drop in for a few minutes or participate fully throughout the three days, it was fantastic to see so many grasp the opportunity the NDP process offers to influence the eventual plan, and help shape the future of the parish.
The forum began with a tremendous 18 presentations being given from a diverse range of representatives from groups within the parish, 15 delivered live at the event. The content of these presentations, together with the findings from the Visioning Events held in March, helped to inform the focus areas which participants then worked on. See them all here.
Under the guidance of our consultant Richard Eastham, of Feria Urbanism, participants were taken through a range of tasks, looking at every aspect of planning policy for the parish as a whole, and at Sissinghurst and Cranbrook as distinct areas. Site visits were conducted and findings reported back and added to a draft policy headings chart.
The event concluded with an excellent presentation by Richard, which incorporated all that was achieved over the three days. He presented to a full house and received praise from the room for a successful delivery of the forum, and in his summation of the overarching ‘plan’ for the parish. Watch it here.
The Feria team will now produce a report and slideshow for the next round of public engagement, presenting the work from the forum. The next step will be presenting the outline policy headings to the wider community through a series of roadshows for feedback and further ideas.
Look out for upcoming roadshows and other opportunities to get involved and have your say.
